You can take in more chlorine in one shower or bath than you would get from drinking chlorinated water for two days. The skin absorbs it like a sponge. Further, significant carcinogenic trihalomethanes (THM's), such as cholorform, are breathed in from the steam. Purify your shower & bath water!

Redox media (eg., KDF) is very effective in a shower filter. As a bonus, redox conditions water making it nicer for your skin and hair.

The addition of carbon to a shower filter will deal with the chloramines, a compound of chlorine and ammonia, that some cities are now using as an antiseptic in their water.

A PROBLEM WITH PURIFICATION

The main problem with purification is the extended use of purifying media beyond its thorough effectiveness. Any of the various media eventually wear out or get saturated or clogged with impurities. These need replaced depending on the amount and quality of water that pass through them. Many people overlook timely replacement, and water quality can become worse than without the purifier.

Redox media and carbon in combination maintain their effectiveness longer than other media. Using these together before a reverse osmosis membrane protects it and lengthens its useful life.
